QC Laboratory Technician

Sion - Office, Monthey - Plant
Full-time
Permanent employee

Your mission

We are looking for a QC Laboratory Technician to join our team across Sion and Monthey at a pivotal stage in our development. You will be involved during the commissioning of our Showcase Plant, where processes are still being established and refined.
In this role, you will take responsibility for carrying out chemical and physical analyses that underpin our product quality and support the validation of our technology. At the same time, this position goes beyond routine testing. You will contribute to setting up laboratory practices, help define SOPs, and work closely with operations to troubleshoot issues as they arise in real time.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who values structure but is comfortable working in an evolving environment, where not everything is predefined. It offers the opportunity to be directly involved in building how the lab operates and how quality is ensured from the ground up.

Your responsibilities:

  • Operate and maintain advanced laboratory instrumentation to monitor process efficiency and product purity on PET feedstock, intermediate and final products and following protocols according to strict safety and quality guidelines.

  • Analyze data trends to identify deviations in the recycling process and provide immediate feedback to the operations team for corrective actions. Collaborate closely with engineers and operators to correlate laboratory results with plant performance metrics.

  • Assist in the development and validation of new testing methods tailored to the specific chemistry of the demonstration plant. Participate in the troubleshooting of process upsets by rapidly analyzing samples to pinpoint root causes.

  • Document all findings meticulously in the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and contribute to DePoly's Quality System.

  • Ensure all equipment calibration and maintenance logs are up-to-date to support regulatory compliance and audit readiness.

  • Promote a culture of safety - adhere strictly to HSE protocols, particularly when handling chemicals, powders and other polymer samples and manage hazardous waste disposal in accordance with site regulations.

Your profile

We expect you to have these skills:

  • Chemical Laboratory Technician Apprenticeship Certificate (CFC) or Bachelor’s degree in Analytical Chemistry or an equivalent level of qualification.

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a QC laboratory environment, preferably in polymers, plastics, or chemical processing.

  • Experience of HPLC, ICP is essential. NMR and/or LC/MS experience is an asset.

  • Maintenance and troubleshooting of laboratory equipment is desirable.

  • Familiarity with PET properties and recycling processes is a strong asset.

  • Languages: Fluency in French (written and spoken) and English (professional) is essential, particularly for cross-functional communication.

  • Mastering Microsoft Office 365 (Excel and Word), Google Suite and Agilent data processing software is an asset.

  • Have a Swiss working permit or be eligible to work in Switzerland.

  • Proactive, versatile and solution oriented.

  • Flexibility to work in multiple locations (Sion and Monthey).

  • A permanent position in an award winning company.
